Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors has officially launched its next-generation, battery-electric version of the Eclipse Cross SUV, promising a driving range of approximately 370 miles (600 km) on a single full charge.

The new model is built on the CMF-EV platform of the Renault Group-Nissan Motor Corporation-Mitsubishi Alliance, produced at Renault’s ElectriCity facility in Douai, France. The company emphasises the vehicle as a major step in its electrification strategy for Europe and beyond.

Under the bonnet, the Eclipse Cross EV features an 87 kWh drive battery, a 160 kW motor producing 300 Nm of torque and supports DC fast-charging up to 150 kW, enabling 10-80 % charge in roughly 25-30 minutes under optimal conditions. The design follows Mitsubishi’s “Smart Armor” aesthetic combined with their signature “Dynamic Shield” front-face design language.

Inside, the SUV offers a comfortable two-row, five-passenger cabin, featuring a 12.3-inch display with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and up to 20 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) including same-lane driver assist and rear cross-traffic alert. For added convenience, over-the-air (FOTA) updates are supported, and remote control via a mobile app is enabled for charging, locking and vehicle status checks.

Mitsubishi said this launch marks its transition from plug-in hybrids and conventional ICE models into full battery EVs. The company intends to increase the ratio of electrified vehicles in its portfolio to 100 % by 2035 and is positioning the new Eclipse Cross as a trailblazer in that journey. The model is expected to go on sale in Europe before the end of 2025 with further markets to follow in due course.
