Neuron Energy has commissioned a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra, marking a significant step in its expansion into the energy storage segment. The move highlights the company’s strategy to diversify beyond electric vehicle battery solutions and strengthen its presence in India’s growing clean energy ecosystem.
The facility has been developed with an investment of approximately ₹100 crore and spans around 7 acres. It is designed as a modern, automated manufacturing unit equipped with advanced robotics and production technologies to ensure efficient and scalable operations.
With an annual production capacity of 5 GWh, the plant is capable of manufacturing nearly 1,000 BESS units each year. These systems are intended for grid-scale and renewable energy applications, enabling efficient storage of excess power and its use during peak demand periods.
The commissioning of this facility comes at a time when India is witnessing rapid growth in renewable energy deployment. However, energy storage continues to be a critical requirement for ensuring grid stability and reliable power supply. Neuron Energy’s BESS solutions are expected to support this transition by improving energy efficiency and reducing wastage.
In addition to strengthening energy infrastructure, the project is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities. These roles will cover manufacturing, engineering, operations, and support services, contributing to regional economic development.
Neuron Energy plans to cater to domestic as well as international markets, supplying BESS solutions to utilities, renewable energy developers, and industrial customers. The company also aims to expand its footprint in the global energy storage market while supporting India’s clean energy goals.
