Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z electric scooter range in India, bringing its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP battery technology to the mass-market segment. The new scooter range is positioned as one of the company’s most accessible electric two-wheelers, with introductory prices starting at ₹79,999 (ex-showroom). The S1Z is aimed at making locally developed battery technology more accessible to price-conscious Indian EV buyers.
The Ola S1Z is offered in two battery configurations — 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh. The 3.1 kWh variant is priced at ₹79,999 and claims an IDC range of up to 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh version costs ₹99,999 and offers a claimed IDC range of up to 301 km. The company has opened reservations for the scooter, with deliveries of the smaller battery version scheduled to begin in December 2026 and the 5.1 kWh version expected from March 2027.
A key highlight of the S1Z is Ola Electric’s 46-series Bharat Cell LFP technology. The lithium iron phosphate cells have been developed at the company’s Battery Innovation Centre and are manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. By developing and producing the cells in-house, Ola Electric aims to reduce battery costs and improve control over its EV supply chain, helping bring advanced battery technology to a more affordable price point.
The new electric scooter is powered by MoveOS 5 and comes with several connected and software-based features. These include cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS, over-the-air software updates, geo-fencing, time and mode fencing, ride statistics and energy insights through the Ola Electric app. The S1Z also gets an Easy Park function designed to assist riders while manoeuvring and parking the scooter in tight spaces.
In terms of performance, both S1Z variants use a 4 kW peak-output mid-drive IPM motor and have a claimed top speed of 70 kmph. The 3.1 kWh version can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in 4.6 seconds, while the 5.1 kWh model takes 4.9 seconds under the company’s stated specifications. The scooter is offered with 12-inch wheels and four colour options, including White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green.
With the S1Z, Ola Electric is expanding its focus on India’s mass-market electric two-wheeler segment while increasing the use of its homegrown battery technology. The company is also introducing dealer-operated stores as part of its retail expansion strategy, alongside its existing network. By combining Bharat Cell LFP technology, a claimed range of up to 301 km and connected features with an introductory price below ₹1 lakh, the S1Z is positioned as an important product in Ola Electric’s push to make EVs more accessible in India.
