Tata Power and Tata Motors Unveil India’s First MegaCharger Hub

Tata Power, in collaboration with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEML), on World EV Day inaugurated India’s first premium, large-scale electric vehicle charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative, underscoring a significant milestone in India’s green mobility push.

The hub is strategically located near Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, within the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel. This prime location is intended to serve a wide cross-section of EV users private car owners, taxis, ride-hailing services, logistics fleets, frequent flyers, hotel guests, and commuters in the Andheri–BKC–South Mumbai corridor.

Equipped with eight fast DC chargers delivering up to 120 kW of power and 16 charging bays, the MegaCharger hub allows up to 16 vehicles to charge simultaneously. Its design aims to minimize wait times and offer seamless charging, even during peak demand.

Powering the entire facility with 100 percent renewable energy, Tata Power and TPEML reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable infrastructure. At the inauguration, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, said the hub “sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure,” with plans to replicate similar facilities across major cities.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., emphasized that Tata Motors’ leadership in EV manufacturing is matched by its dedication to developing a robust charging ecosystem. He described this launch as a milestone in their broader mission to deploy fast, reliable charging nationwide.

The MegaCharger hub is part of the expanding TATA.ev MegaCharger network open to all EV users, but offering TATA.ev owners up to 25 percent discounts and priority access. Charging services are accessible via the Tata Power EZ Charge app, with over 400,000 registered users, and will soon integrate with the iRA.ev connected car app.
