Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has unveiled an updated battery subscription policy in the Philippines designed to reduce the upfront cost of EV ownership by as much as 20%, the company announced. The move aims to make electric vehicles more accessible to Filipino consumers as demand for clean transportation grows.
Under the new policy, customers purchasing VinFast EVs can choose between buying the battery with the vehicle or subscribing to a battery plan that lowers the initial purchase price. Subscription fees start at about PHP 1,600 per month and are calculated based on actual driving distance, offering users greater flexibility and lower entry costs.
VinFast described the battery subscription as a form of “lifetime battery warranty,” under which the company will manage battery performance, maintenance and repairs throughout the subscription period. Under the terms, the company will also replace batteries at no extra cost if their capacity falls below 70% or if they are damaged in an accident.
For buyers who prefer traditional ownership, VinFast continues to offer vehicles with the battery included and backed by a comprehensive after-sales warranty covering up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometers. This dual-option approach gives consumers a choice that aligns with their financial preferences and usage needs.
The updated subscription policy supplements other initiatives VinFast has rolled out in the Philippines, such as free charging at V-Green stations, flexible financing options with low down payments, and a residual value guarantee program that offers up to 90% of the original vehicle price on resale value.
VinFast has been expanding its presence in the Philippine market since its entry over a year ago, broadening its EV lineup and strengthening its dealership and service network. The company’s strategy reflects broader industry efforts to overcome affordability barriers and accelerate the adoption of electric mobility across Southeast Asia.
