India’s transition toward sustainable transportation and smart waste management received a fresh boost as Youdha introduced its new electric garbage van for municipal and sanitation operations. The newly launched vehicle has been designed to support cleaner urban mobility while helping cities reduce fuel emissions and operational costs associated with conventional waste collection vehicles.

The electric garbage van is aimed at municipalities, private sanitation contractors and urban waste collection agencies looking for environmentally responsible mobility solutions. With the increasing adoption of electric commercial vehicles across India, the launch reflects the growing demand for cleaner transportation alternatives in the utility and public service sectors.

Powered by a 10 kW AC induction motor, the vehicle comes equipped with an 11.8 kWh battery pack capable of delivering a certified driving range of up to 167 km on a single charge. The electric van can achieve a top speed of 48 kmph, while the charging time is estimated at around four to five hours, making it suitable for daily urban sanitation operations.

The vehicle has been developed specifically for urban and semi-urban waste collection requirements. It offers a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 1200 kg along with a payload capacity of 700 kg. The garbage collection box measures 2300×1481×1420 mm, allowing operators to efficiently manage both dry and wet waste collection activities across cities and towns.

To improve operational convenience and driver comfort, the electric garbage van features a closed cabin design, digital instrument cluster and 215 mm ground clearance for better performance on varying road conditions. The company stated that the vehicle has been engineered to provide practical utility while supporting India’s expanding clean mobility ecosystem.

Speaking about the launch, company representatives highlighted the rising need for sustainable waste management mobility solutions in India’s rapidly evolving sanitation sector. Industry experts believe electric municipal vehicles could play a significant role in reducing fuel dependency and lowering urban emissions in the coming years. Youdha also plans to strengthen its presence in the electric commercial vehicle segment through application-focused mobility solutions tailored for Indian operating conditions.
