GreenCell Mobility, a leading player in India’s electric public transport space, announced plans to deploy over 1,200 electric buses across Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh under the central government’s PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. This large-scale rollout is expected to significantly enhance zero-emission public transportation in key urban areas of both states.
The initiative, part of the Government of India’s push for sustainable mobility, aims to reduce vehicular emissions while improving urban transit systems. GreenCell’s electric buses will serve 27 cities, delivering eco-friendly travel options to millions of daily commuters.
In Madhya Pradesh, approximately 700 electric buses will be deployed across 19 cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur. The company will also provide essential support infrastructure, such as charging stations and fleet management systems, as part of its comprehensive service model.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is set to receive more than 500 electric buses for eight major cities including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Tirupati. GreenCell Mobility will operate these buses under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model for a period of 12 years, ensuring service consistency and maintenance.
A subsidiary of EverSource Capital, GreenCell Mobility has positioned itself as a front-runner in India’s transition to clean mobility. With this deployment, the company expects to significantly cut down on CO₂ emissions and urban pollution while boosting job creation in the electric vehicle ecosystem.
The PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, launched in 2023, supports states and city authorities in procuring electric buses through a public-private partnership model. The initiative is aligned with India’s net-zero goals and Smart Cities Mission, focusing on clean and accessible transportation solutions.
