Hyundai latest electrified sports car, the battery‑electric vehicle IONIQ 6 N, will be produced in very limited quantities, automaker and industry sources confirmed this week.
The high-performance sedan, unveiled earlier this month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, follows the success of Hyundai’s first electric “N” vehicle, the IONIQ 5 N. The IONIQ 6 N delivers stunning performance figures, including 641 horsepower (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque, launching the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Despite its impressive specs and enthusiastic early reception, production of the IONIQ 6 N will be capped at approximately 6,000 units a year just 10% of the output planned for the standard IONIQ 6. That means for every ten IONIQ 6 vehicles made, only one will be the high-performance “N” variant.
Allocation by region is expected to favor major EV markets: about 2,000 units to China, 1,500 to North America, 1,500 between Europe and Australia, and 1,000 destined for South Korea—though these figures could change based on demand trends.
Hyundai has integrated several advanced performance features into the IONIQ 6 N, including N Grin Boost—which momentarily maximizes power output and N Torque Distribution and N e‑Shift features that emulate gear shifting via paddle shifters and cabin sound effects. Audiophile drivers will also appreciate the Active Sound+ system that provides artificial engine notes to recreate the visceral feel of driving a traditional sports car.
Battery capabilities mirror the car’s sporty persona: powered by an 84 kWh pack, the WLTP-rated range is approximately 469 km (291 miles), with 350 kW charging support enabling a 10%–80% charge in about 18 minutes. The IONIQ 6 N combines track-level performance with ultra-fast charging suited for daily use.
