Electrify America, the largest open DC fast-charging network in the United States, has announced a major expansion of its Hyper-Fast EV charging infrastructure across Maryland, aiming to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and enhance state-level charging accessibility.
The rollout introduces 350 kW chargers Electrify America’s “Hyper-Fast” units now available across eight Royal Farms convenience store locations in Maryland. These new stations dramatically cut charging times, enabling capable EVs to recharge in as little as 20 minutes.
Two locations Halethorpe and Oxon Hill are already operational, with additional stations soon opening in Annapolis, Catonsville, Charlotte Hall, Columbia, Pikesville, and Towson. Altogether, the expansion will feature more than 55 individual chargers across the eight sites.
Beyond delivering rapid charging, the partnership places EV infrastructure within familiar community stops. EV drivers can recharge their vehicles while enjoying fresh food and beverages inside Royal Farms stores—merging convenience with efficiency.
Electrify America’s vice president of operations, Anthony Lambkin, said the collaboration “brings Hyper-Fast charging to the places drivers already know and visit regularly,” making EV charging more effortless whether you’re on a daily commute or a longer trip. Thomas Ruszin, Royal Farms’ Fuel & Environmental Leader, added that this move reinforces accessibility and progress, enabling drivers to choose electric without sacrificing speed or comfort.
This strategic expansion reinforces Maryland’s standing as a forward-leaning state in EV infrastructure, supporting sustainability goals while seamlessly integrating high-speed charging into community hubs.
