Kia India, a major player in the country’s mass-premium car segment, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC). This alliance seeks to fortify industry-academia ties, cultivate a sustainable skilling ecosystem, and boost placement opportunities in the evolving automotive domain.
Through this collaboration, Kia India and ASDC aim to ready a future-focused workforce aligned with India’s shifting mobility landscape where electric vehicle (EV) adoption and enhanced customer experience hold increasing importance.
The programme introduces a tailored 30-day immersive training module for participants. The first 15 days are dedicated to foundational learning at ASDC-certified centres, emphasizing core automotive principles and dealership operations. This is followed by a hands-on 15-day stint at authorised Kia dealerships, familiarizing trainees with Kia-specific processes, systems, and product know-how.
Expressing his views on the initiative, Mr. Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, described the partnership as “a pivotal step in Kia India’s commitment to shaping a future-ready ecosystem, anchored in skilled human capital and elevated customer experience.” He emphasized that structured training and certification would not only empower India’s youth with meaningful career paths but also reinforce Kia’s dealer network with professionals aligned with the brand’s values of quality, care, and innovation.
Upon successful completion, candidates are assessed at an ASDC centre and receive a dual certification from both Kia India and ASDC. This qualification streamlines their transition into direct employment with Kia’s sales or service operations at its dealerships.
The initiative aligns with broader national skilling objectives, setting a benchmark for dealership workforce readiness while empowering aspiring professionals with future-resilient career opportunities in India’s fast-evolving automotive sector.
