NLC India Renewables, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India, has entered into a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to jointly develop 1,000 MW of renewable energy projects across Odisha. The partnership marks a major step towards expanding clean energy infrastructure in the state while supporting India’s renewable energy and net-zero goals.
Under the agreement, the joint venture will develop, operate and maintain renewable energy projects across Odisha, subject to techno-commercial feasibility studies and the necessary statutory approvals. The initiative aims to strengthen the state’s renewable energy capacity while accelerating the adoption of sustainable power generation.
The planned portfolio will include solar power, wind energy, hybrid renewable energy systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and pumped hydro energy storage projects. In addition, both organisations will explore opportunities in emerging clean energy technologies, including green hydrogen and other innovative renewable energy solutions, to build a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
The partnership will also focus on identifying opportunities for forward and backward integration across the renewable energy value chain. By combining their technical expertise and resources, NLC India Renewables and OREDA aim to support large-scale clean energy deployment, improve energy infrastructure and encourage long-term investments in Odisha’s renewable energy sector.
The Joint Venture Agreement was signed in the presence of senior officials from both organisations and government representatives. The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s vision to expand renewable energy capacity, reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable economic development through large-scale green energy investments.
With this strategic collaboration, NLC India Renewables and OREDA are set to play a key role in advancing Odisha’s clean energy transition. The proposed 1,000 MW renewable energy portfolio is expected to strengthen the state’s green power capacity, attract new investments and support India’s broader objective of building a sustainable, low-carbon energy future.
