The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) has named Manav Kapur, Executive Director of Steelbird, as the new Chairman of its Aftermarket Pillar. The aftermarket sector is considered one of the strongest drivers of India’s automotive industry, playing a key role in mobility, employment generation, and road safety.
As Chairman, Kapur will work towards improving competitiveness, boosting localisation, and expanding the global reach of Indian auto component makers. His leadership comes at a crucial time when the industry is undergoing major technological and structural changes.
Kapur earlier led ACMA’s Young Business Leaders Forum (YBLF), where he focused on developing future leaders and strengthening industry collaboration. That responsibility has now been passed on to Akhilesh Rai, Director of Suprajit Engineering.
Expressing his views on the appointment, Kapur said the Indian aftermarket is at a turning point. With increasing vehicle ownership, rising safety awareness, and India’s growing influence in the global mobility supply chain, he believes there are huge opportunities ahead. His priority will be to enhance self-reliance and establish India’s aftermarket sector as a dependable global partner.
The announcement comes alongside other leadership updates at ACMA. Vikrampati Singhania, Managing Director of JK Fenner (India) Ltd., has taken over as ACMA President for 2025–26, while Sriram Viji, Managing Director of Brakes India Pvt. Ltd., has been named President Designate. Together, they will focus on navigating challenges like electrification, supply chain shifts, and global market expansion.
Representing over 950 companies and contributing more than 2.3% to India’s GDP, ACMA remains a critical body for the automotive sector. With new leadership at the helm, the association aims to accelerate innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in line with India’s Make in India mission.
