In Korea, Kia formally unveiled the 2025 Ray EV, which has the same affordable starting price of under $21,000. But new features have been added to the previous model year by the current one. According to electrek, entry-level electric cars can be bought for as little as $15,000 when subsidies are applied.

The “New Kia Ray” made its debut as an affordable electric car last year. Less than a month after the Kia Ray EV went on sale in August of last year, with pre-orders starting at about $20,500 (27.35 million won), over 6,000 reservations were made.

According to a Kia spokesman, “the New Ray is the best choice for customers waiting for an entry-level minicar.” One of Korea’s top-selling electric cars is the affordable EV made by Kia.

The firm sold more than 8,500 Ray EVs in the first eight months of 2024, surpassing both the sales of Kia’s new EV3 (5,977) and the EV6 (7,248).

Furthermore, according to the electrek study, The Ray is now Korea’s third best-selling electric vehicle (EV) behind the Tesla Model Y (24,240 units sold this year) and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 (14,662 sold).

The 2025 Ray EV was unveiled by Kia on Wednesday. The updated model now has more functions despite having the same cheap starting price of $20,500 (27.35 million won).

Kia said that the Drive Wise II and Style packages are included with every 2025 Ray EV trim level. Several additional ADAS features, including safe exit warning and blind-spot collision avoidance assistance, are included in the Drive Wise package.

Concurrently, the Style update comes with LED rear combination lamps, projection headlights, and more.

The Light trim, which seats one, costs $21,500. The 2-seater version costs $20,700, while the 4-seater Light starts at $21,000. The price of the Kia Ray EV with government subsidies might be as low as $15,000.

With a 35.2 kWh battery, the electric microcar can travel up to 205 km (127 miles) in Korea. Nonetheless, the car may travel 145 miles (233 km) in the city.

Hyundai Motor predicts that EV sales will rise by 2025 thanks to new, less expensive models like the Casper Electric and Kia EV3.
