Mercedes-Benz Teases Debut of All-New GLC EV at Munich Motor Show

Mercedes-Benz is ramping up excitement ahead of the global debut of its all-new GLC EV, scheduled for Sept. 7 at the IAA Mobility show in Munich. The automaker has unveiled teaser images highlighting distinctive new design and technology elements.

The teaser spotlights a bold illuminated grille composed of 942 pixelated LED lights enclosed in a wide chrome frame, embodying the brand’s new “Sensual Purity” design philosophy. The look draws inspiration from classic models such as the 1902 Mercedes Simplex, the 600 Pullman and the W 108. A simpler, non-illuminated variant featuring smoky white plastic squares is also expected to be offered.

Inside, the GLC EV will debut the next generation of Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX Hyperscreen—an evolution previously seen in the EQS and EQE models. The upgraded interface promises smoother animations, a refined user experience and further smart enhancements.

Under the skin, the GLC EV will be powered by a 94.5 kWh battery pack paired with an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture and the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. Engineers have tuned the powertrain to deliver a peak output of about 483 horsepower.

Additional reports indicate that the vehicle is built on Mercedes’ new MB.EA platform and will include luxury Airmatic air suspension (borrowed from the S-Class) as part of an optional comfort package. The GLC EV will also feature rear-wheel steering with a modest 4.5° steering angle, a generous 2,968 mm wheelbase (80 mm longer than the combustion-engine version), a 570-liter trunk, a 128-liter front trunk (“frunk”) and fast DC charging that can provide up to 260 km of range in just 10 minutes.

The upcoming unveiling of the GLC EV marks a strategic shift as Mercedes brings its EV models closer in design to its conventional lineup—abandoning separate “EQ” branding in favor of integration. As the best-selling GLC series moves electric, Mercedes aims to blend its celebrated heritage with modern EV innovation.
